Tracking in Emails

We use technology in emails to help us understand how users interact with the marketing emails we send. The technology is similar to cookies, but there are slight differences. Here is some information on what happens in emails and the choices you have in terms of accepting or rejecting them.

Our marketing emails contain hyperlinks which have unique tags in them - this helps us see who has clicked the content, and who hasn't, which enables us to tailor future content, offers and promotions to you. It means that we don't continue to send marketing emails that are not relevant, to people that are not opening them.

Marketing emails contain a single-pixel image, which is invisible to you. If your browser or email client is set to automatically download images then this image will be loaded automatically - this is sometimes called a tracking pixel.

When the image is loaded, it tells us that you have opened an email, how many times you have opened it, your IP address, which email client and which device you are using. The purpose of the image is to provide us with information on which email campaigns have been opened by who and to help us format the email for the device you are reading on. This is a common practice in email marketing and is used by thousands of brands all over the world.

If you do not wish to accept tracking from any of our emails, close the email before the browser or email client has downloaded images.
